Churches temporarily closed due to COVID-19 epidemic

A message from Reverend Stephen McCaulay (24/03/20):

My dear Brothers and sisters

Following on from the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday evening (23/03/20) all must close and remain closed for at least the next three weeks.

Church buildings close, the church remains. So pray, keep in contact with each other, (and me) and witness with our lives what we believe in our hearts.

Lighting a candle at 7pm. On Sunday evening and praying was a small thing to do but it made a massive impact all over the land. So much so that some of us have decided to continue to light a 7pm candle while this crisis continues.

Please think about joining in if you can.

The following prayers might be useful for you as you light your candle.

Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Keep, watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake. Amen.

Yours aye
